What Makes Us Different?

Our designer, Professor Malcolm Toft has a career spanning more than 50 years in the professional audio industry.  As a recording engineer he worked on records by The Beatles, David Bowie, T-Rex, James Taylor, Joe Cocker and many others. As a designer, he founded Trident Audio and was responsible for the design of many of their iconic consoles, including the A Range, B Range, Series 80 and TSM.  He therefore has a broad understanding of both the application and design of professional audio equipment.

All of our products are designed, manufactured and tested in the U.K.   Consequently, we have complete control over all aspects of the manufacture.

We do not use ‘surface mount' components. This is where components are miniaturised and placed on the surface of the printed circuit board. This technology can be found in products such as mobile phones where space is at a premium and large volumes are produced. Unfortunately, servicing of this technology is not easy and requires specialist equipment not available to a large number of service technicians.  We use ‘through hole’ assembly which means that parts can be easily replaced and serviced with a minimum amount of equipment (usually, just a soldering iron).   This ensures that in years to come, our products can still be repaired easily.
